We are a brand-new start-up, one doctor, small animal Veterinary Clinic opening soon in the Gulf Place community of Santa Rosa Beach, FL! We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. You will be responsible for assisting with various tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the well-being of our patients while also maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Duties
- Assist the veterinarian during examinations and procedures by preparing the necessary instruments and equipment.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, ensuring accurate dosages and proper techniques.
- Provide administatation support as needed, including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and greeting clients.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Care for animals in the treatment area, including feeding, grooming, and exercising them as required.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood draws and urinalysis under the supervision of veterinary staff.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team promptly.
Skills
- Proficiency in veterinary critical care practices is highly desirable.
- Experience with medication administration and understanding of various medications used in veterinary medicine.
- Strong front desk skills, including customer service experience in a veterinary or animal care setting.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment during procedures.
- Passion for animal care, with a commitment to providing compassionate support to both pets and their owners.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine is an asset.
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is beneficial but not mandatory.
