Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Learning
-
Develop and deliver standards-aligned lesson plans that meet South Carolina academic requirements and the charter school’s mission.

Integrate technology, digital tools, and innovative instructional strategies to enhance learning.

Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet diverse learning needs and promote mastery-based, project-based, or competency-based learning when applicable to the school model.
-
Engage students in real-world problem-solving and 21st-century skill development.
Classroom Environment & Management
-
Establish a positive, safe, and mission-aligned classroom environment.
-
Implement classroom-management practices consistent with school policies and charter expectations.
-
Promote character development, critical thinking, collaboration, and student ownership of learning.
Assessment & Data
-
Use assessments and performance data to guide instruction and track student progress.
-
Maintain accurate records including grades, attendance, learning plans, and required state data.
-
Participate in state testing and school-administered assessments.
Professional Responsibilities
-
Support the mission, philosophy, and instructional model of the charter school.
-
Collaborate with colleagues as part of a professional learning community.
-
Maintain the confidentiality of student information.
-
Attend meetings, training, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
-
Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
-
Comply with all state and federal education laws, SCDE regulations, and charter school policies.
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or School Leadership Team.
Requirements:
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
-
South Carolina teaching certification or qualification under charter-school hiring flexibility (e.g., out-of-state certification, alternative certification, field expertise) consistent with S.C. Code § 59-40-50(4).

Satisfactory completion of state and federal background checks (including FBI fingerprinting).

Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills.
-
Ability to implement the charter school’s instructional approach and support its mission.
Preferred
-
South Carolina educator certification in the appropriate subject/grade level.
-
Experience in charter schools, alternative education models, or innovative instructional programs.
-
Experience with digital platforms, blended learning, or competency-based learning.
-
Experience working with diverse student populations.
Employment Conditions
-
Follows the calendar, schedule, and operational guidelines established by the charter school and its governing board.
-
May require participation in extended learning time, family engagement events, or enrichment programming depending on the school model.
