Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to support our healthcare team in delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical assisting, with experience across various clinical settings including dermatology, hospital medicine, and urgent care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and compassionate patient interactions.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and other pertinent patient information accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and specimen collection while adhering to protocols.
- Manage administrative duties including scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and processing insurance documentation.
- Support patient intake processes by verifying insurance information and explaining procedures clearly.
- Maintain thorough medical documentation with attention to detail, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and ICD coding standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in clinical environments such as dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or outpatient settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding for accurate documentation.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) management tools.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are preferred.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically across diverse populations.
- Experience working within hospital or Level I/II trauma centers is advantageous; familiarity with inpatient care or emergency medicine is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
