KVCS is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered Part-Time Electives Teacher to work with high school students. We are looking for an individual with experience working with adolescents and a special skill, area of expertise, or passion that they are willing and able to share with students.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop and teach an elective course based on the candidate's background and strengths. Potential areas may include, but are not limited to:
Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Language Arts and creative writing
Art and visual arts
STEM, technology, or engineering
Theater and performing arts
Business or entrepreneurship
Outdoor education
Other specialized skills or educational areas that would benefit high school students
The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine interest in helping students explore new interests and develop meaningful skills.
Develop and teach an engaging elective course based on the candidate's area of expertise.
Provide instruction appropriate for high school students with varying interests, abilities, and learning needs.
Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
Plan lessons and learning experiences that are hands-on, relevant, and engaging.
Support students in developing knowledge, skills, creativity, and confidence.
Collaborate with school staff to support student success.
Maintain appropriate classroom management and professional expectations.
Fulfill other duties related to the position as assigned.
Experience working with high school students or adolescents required.
Demonstrated knowledge, skill, training, education, or professional experience in an area that can be meaningfully taught to students.
Ability and willingness to develop and teach an elective course.
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students.
A passion for sharing knowledge, skills, and interests with young people.
Teaching licensure or formal classroom teaching experience may be beneficial depending on the subject area, but candidates with relevant professional, technical, artistic, academic, or specialized experience are encouraged to apply.
Depending on the needs of the school and the candidate's qualifications and availability, this position may be combined with a part-time paraprofessional position. Candidates who are interested in supporting students both as an electives teacher and paraprofessional are encouraged to indicate this in their application.
