Job Description
We are currently seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Veterinary Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with animals and possess a strong desire to contribute to their health and welfare. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering quality care to our patients. This position offers an excellent entry level opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine.
Must be able to work Tuseday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, procedures, and maintenance of hospital facilities.
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and treatments.
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical suites for procedures.
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Prepare and maintain kennel ward, bathing room, hallways, and front lobby.
- Perform routine cleaning of indoor and outdoor spaces.
- Provide post-operative care and monitoring to patients.
- The walking of client dogs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary or animal care setting is a plus.
- High School Diploma/GED a plus.
- Willingness to learn how to administer medications and recognize abnormal conditions.
- Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency, perform moderately heavy physical labor.
- Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
