Client Services & Quality Manager — Bakery
Full-Time | Tuesday–Saturday | $20–$24/hour + Commission | Immediate Start
The Role
We're a busy bakery producing wedding cakes, custom cakes, and specialty orders, and we're hiring one person to own the custom order process end to end — from the moment an order comes in to the moment the finished cake goes out the door correct.
This is not a baking job and it is not a social media job. This is the job for the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks: the contract is right, the decorator has what they need, the cake matches what the bride paid for, and the shelves aren't empty on a Friday.
If you are organized, unflappable under pressure, and take personal offense when a detail is wrong, you'll do well here.
Pay
Base: $20.00/hour to start — $24.00/hour at 90 days (approx. $41,600 → $49,920/year, plus overtime)
The 90-day increase is based on a written review covering order accuracy, attendance and punctuality, and client feedback. The criteria go in your offer letter, so you'll know exactly what you're measured on from day one.
Commission Schedule — New Commercial & Venue Accounts
Part of this role is building relationships with wedding venues, planners, and commercial accounts. When you bring one in, you get paid on it:
Milestone
You earn
New commercial or venue account places its first order
$50
That same account places a second order within 6 months
$50
That account reaches $2,500 in total orders within 12 months
$100
- Uncapped. There is no ceiling and no quota.
- Paid quarterly with your regular paycheck.
- Applies to business, venue, and planner accounts — not individual retail or wedding customers.
- Commission pays on orders actually paid, not invoiced.
Also included: overtime paid as required by law, and an employee discount.
PAID TIME OFF AT 90 DAYS.
What You'll Own
Custom Orders & Contracts
- Process incoming custom and wedding orders — print, organize, and verify every order
- Review order details with decorators before production begins
- Maintain accurate contracts, deposits, due dates, and change requests
- Build and manage the delivery schedule
- (Quoting and pricing orders will be added to this role once you're up to speed — not on day one)
Quality Control
- Inspect every finished custom cake against the order before it leaves — flavor, size, tiers, colors, inscription, delivery time
- Catch errors before the customer does. This is the single most important part of this job.
Client Services
- Run tastings and consultations with brides and custom clients
- Serve as the point of contact for questions, changes, and concerns
- Own customer complaints and problems start to finish — de-escalate, resolve, follow up
Inventory & Supply
- Track ingredient, packaging, and supply levels
- Place and receive orders so production never stops
- Keep counts accurate and know where we stand at any moment
Accounts & Events
- Build and maintain relationships with wedding venues, planners, and larger commercial clients
- Represent the bakery at select events (some evenings/weekends)
Backup Support
- Cover the register and assist customers during peak periods (secondary duty, not your main job)
Schedule
- Tuesday through Saturday
- Closed Sundays — you will never work a Sunday
- Consistent, predictable weekly schedule
- Occasional evening or off-schedule hours for events and weddings, known in advance
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 2+ years in a role where accuracy and deadlines were your responsibility — bakery, catering, event coordination, retail management, hospitality, dental/medical front office, or similar
- Demonstrated customer service skills, including handling upset customers calmly and professionally
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing many active orders at once
- Reliable transportation and a track record of consistent attendance
- Comfortable with basic computer work: order systems, email, spreadsheets, printing
- Maintains a professional, polished appearance appropriate for client-facing meetings and events
- Able to work Tuesday–Saturday consistently
Preferred:
- Experience with wedding or event clients
- Inventory or purchasing experience
- Prior experience in a production or kitchen environment
Physical: Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a commercial kitchen environment.
This Job Is Not For You If...
- You need a flexible or rotating schedule
- You're looking to bake or decorate (this is coordination and quality control)
- You want a social media or marketing role — we don't need that here
- You get rattled when a bride is upset three hours before her reception
- "Close enough" is good enough for you
How to Apply
Send your resume along with short answers to these three questions. Applications without answers will not be reviewed.
- Describe a time you caught a mistake before it reached the customer. What was it, and how did you catch it?
- A bride arrives for pickup and her cake is the wrong shade of blush. Walk us through exactly what you do in the next ten minutes.
- Are you available Tuesday–Saturday on a consistent basis, starting immediately?
We're hiring right away and moving fast for the right person.
