Responsibilities
- Operate emergency vehicles safely while navigating city streets efficiently to reach patients timely
- Assess patient conditions through thorough physical examinations and vital signs monitoring
- Manage airway procedures, including airway management techniques and ventilation support when necessary
- Administer medications, injections, and other treatments following established protocols and medical terminology standards
- Perform trauma assessments, triage patients effectively, and prioritize care based on injury severity at Level I or Level II trauma centers
- Utilize medical equipment such as DME (Durable Medical Equipment), venipuncture tools, and other devices with precision and aseptic technique
- Communicate incident command effectively during complex emergencies involving multiple responders or critical care scenarios
- Document patient information accurately, including vital signs, physiology data, and treatment details for seamless handoff to hospital staff
- Maintain proficiency in neonatal resuscitation procedures, pediatric emergency care, and cardiovascular emergency response protocols
Requirements
- Valid EMT certification with current state licensure; experience in emergency medicine is highly preferred
- Demonstrated critical care experience within hospital or trauma center settings, including Level I or Level II trauma centers
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, trauma medicine, and critical care response procedures
- Hands-on experience with airway management techniques, medication administration, venipuncture, and medical equipment operation
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking during emergency responses
- Excellent patient assessment skills with a focus on trauma care and urgent medical needs across diverse populations including pediatric and neonatal patients
- Familiarity with incident command systems and city street navigation for rapid deployment in urgent situations
- Proven ability to operate emergency vehicles responsibly while adhering to safety protocols and traffic laws
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, first responders, hospitals, and patients under pressure
