The Menschen is a nonprofit (*pending) newspaper/magazine written by people experiencing homelessness through journalism, creative writing, poetry, photography, and art. By providing a platform for authentic storytelling, we aim to challenge perceptions, build understanding, and create meaningful opportunities for contributors.
Position Overview
The Menschen is seeking a creative and collaborative Volunteer Social Media Coordinator to help grow our online presence and engage our community.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys generating new ideas as much as creating content. The Social Media Coordinator will help develop campaigns, brainstorm new ways to reach audiences, identify trends that align with our mission, and assist in planning content across our social media platforms.
As a new organization, this position offers the opportunity to help shape our digital presence from the ground up while working closely with leadership to maintain a consistent voice and mission.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm creative content ideas and social media campaigns
- Draft captions and post concepts
- Assist with content planning and scheduling
- Research trends, topics, and engagement opportunities
- Recommend strategies to grow our audience and strengthen community engagement
- Collaborate with leadership on the organization's social media direction
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and current trends
- Creative thinker with the ability to generate fresh ideas
- Passion for storytelling, journalism, or community impact
- Passion for homelessness or charitable work
Position Details
- Currently a volunteer position. As we grow and receive funding, staff will be paid (and back-paid). It is not yet known when this will be able to happen.
