The Epidemiologist coordinates epidemiological investigation activities related to analyzing & interpreting community level and program specific data. Leads community health needs assessment and community health improvement monitoring. Performs epidemiological & statistical analyses on data & prepares results for the agency, community partners, & the general public; Assist in gathering data & developing special community, routine statistical & special reports. Assist in planning & developing grant applications.

Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology required, with two years’ experience in public health epidemiology or related fieldwork preferred.

Demonstrated public health and epidemiological skills mastered through a combination of education and work experience.

Minimum of two years working in health-related data collection and analysis required; experience with health promotion, community engagement, and community health needs assessment preferred.

Demonstrated excellent statistical & data analysis abilities essential.

Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem-solving skills. Ability to carry out job functions with considerable independence necessary.

Ability to work effectively with the public and peers on projects requiring a team approach.

Must work independently to accomplish workplans seeking assistance as needed.

Must have emotional and mental maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining good working relationships with peers, community partners and state contacts.

Excellent written and oral communication, public speaking and group facilitation skills.

Reliable transportation with valid Michigan driver’s license and certificate of insurance to travel to other locations for work, training, or meetings.
