Position Summary-2 positions available-Full Time 4 days (32 hours per week) and Part Time 3 days (24 hours per week)
The Laundry Attendant plays a vital role in supporting the hotel’s housekeeping operations by ensuring a steady and reliable supply of clean, properly prepared linens. This position is responsible for the complete laundering process — washing, drying, and folding all hotel linens — and for stocking floor linen racks so that housekeepers have everything they need to turn over guest rooms efficiently and on schedule.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Laundry Operations
- Wash, dry, and fold all hotel linens, including bed sheets, pillowcases, towels, washcloths, bath mats, and other linen items each shift.
- Complete a minimum of 11–12 loads of laundry per shift to meet daily housekeeping demands.
- Sort linens before washing to ensure proper care and prevent damage or color transfer.
- Inspect linens for stains, tears, or damage; set aside unusable items for reclaim or disposal.
- Operate commercial washers and dryers according to manufacturer guidelines and hotel standards.
- Use appropriate laundry chemicals and detergents in correct quantities; handle chemicals safely following OSHA and hotel guidelines.
- Maintain proper water temperature and machine cycle settings for different linen types.
- Fold and organize all clean linens to hotel presentation standards.
Floor Stocking & Supply
- Stock linen racks on each guest floor with clean, folded linens before and throughout housekeeping shifts.
- Monitor linen rack levels throughout the day and replenish as needed to prevent shortages.
- Coordinate with housekeepers to anticipate linen needs based on the daily room turnover schedule.
- Ensure all linen closets are fully stocked and neatly organized.
Laundry Room Maintenance
- Keep the laundry room clean, organized, and free of hazards at all times.
- Clean lint traps after every dryer cycle.
- Clean washing machine lint traps at the start and end of each shift.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly.
- Maintain adequate levels of laundry supplies and notify management when restocking is needed.
- Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents, including proper lifting techniques.
Cross-Training & Additional Responsibilities
As part of the hotel’s commitment to operational flexibility and team support, the Laundry Attendant may be required to cross-train in the Houseman role. Cross-training ensures continuity of service during peak periods, staffing shortages, or as directed by management.
Houseman Cross-Training May Include:
- Assisting housekeepers by delivering supplies, removing trash, and stripping rooms as needed.
- Cleaning and maintaining public areas, including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, and restrooms.
- Responding to guest requests for additional linens, towels, or amenities.
- Moving furniture and setting up rooms for special requests or group arrivals.
- Supporting the housekeeping team during high-occupancy periods or when additional staffing is required.
- Performing light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or reporting repair needs.
- Assisting with deep cleaning projects and seasonal property maintenance as assigned.
Cross-training assignments will be coordinated by the Executive Housekeeper and will not exceed the employee’s regularly scheduled hours without prior notice. Participation in cross-training is considered a condition of employment for this position.
Performance Standards
- Complete 11–12 loads of laundry per shift consistently.
- All floor linen racks are fully stocked before housekeeping begins room turns.
- Zero linen shortages reported by housekeeping staff during shifts.
- Laundry room maintained in clean and organized condition at all times.
- Equipment operated correctly with zero preventable damage incidents.
Qualifications
Required
- Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment (training provided).
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, and lift to 40 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull loaded linen carts across the property.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent output.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Preferred
- Previous hotel laundry or commercial laundry experience.
- Familiarity with laundry chemicals and safety procedures.
- Experience in a hotel or hospitality environment.
Work Environment
This position works primarily in the laundry room environment, which may be warm, humid, and noisy due to operating machinery. The role also requires travel throughout the property to stock floor linen racks and, when cross-training as a Houseman, to support public area and housekeeping operations. This is a physically active position requiring consistent movement throughout the shift
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
