Eye Care Specialists is a busy multi-specialty ophthalmology practice with 7 physicians and 3 locations in Norwood and Norfolk. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Technician to join our healthcare team. Full-time and part-time positions are available. The Ophthalmic Technician performs a range of duties that prepare the patient to see the doctor. It is direct patient care, with on the job training.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Obtain medical and eye history from patient

Documenting information using an EMR (electronic medical record)

Prepare examination and treatment rooms

Perform screening and testing to prepare the patient for the doctor's exam. This includes:

Visual acuity

Color vision screening
-
Auto and manual lensometry
-
Auto and manual refraction
-
Tonometry
-
Amsler grid
-
Pupil evaluation
-
Other testing as needed
-
Administer eye medications
-
May assist physicians during minor surgical procedures

Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment

Refill and prescribe medication on doctor's behalf

Complete prior authorizations for patient medication

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

Physical Requirements

Driving independently to other facilities
Working Conditions
