Eligibility & Client Services Specialist – Housing & Energy Assistance

Human Services, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Eligibility & Client Services Specialist to join our Community Services team. In this role, you will help individuals and families navigate programs that support housing stability and household energy needs.
This position will primarily work within either our Energy Assistance Program, also known as LIHEAP, or our Housing Choice Voucher Program, commonly known as Section 8. Depending on your program assignment, you may help households obtain assistance with heating and utility expenses or support individuals and families as they navigate rental assistance and housing program requirements.
You will guide applicants through the process, review documentation, determine program eligibility, explain requirements, maintain accurate records, and coordinate with clients, landlords, community partners, and government agencies. This role is an excellent fit for someone who enjoys helping others while also working with detailed information, regulations, applications, and deadlines.
What You’ll Do
- Assist individuals and families with applications for housing or energy assistance
- Review income, household, and eligibility documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Determine eligibility according to program requirements
- Clearly explain application processes, required documents, program rules, and next steps
- Communicate with clients, landlords, state agencies, and community partners
- Connect individuals and families with additional community resources and emergency services
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic and paper records
- Help ensure services are delivered efficiently, respectfully, and in compliance with program regulations
