The ADON/ Infection Preventionist (RN) works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) and building Administrator to run the nursing department. The ADON additionally serves as the facility Risk Manager and Infection Preventionist.
This is a Full-Time, Day Shift, Monday-Friday, some weekends.
Additional required job experience for this location
- Infection Control / Prevention certification
- Risk Management
- Supervision of CNAs, LPNs, and RNs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other basic computer programs
- Currently licensed as an RN in this state. CPR Certified.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Two years’ experience as a RN with 1 year nursing supervisory experience preferred.
ADON/ Infection Preventionist (RN) Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing / Infection Preventionist (RN) with Administrative Duties assists in managing the department of nursing. The position conducts the nursing process – assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation – under the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act of Registered Nurse licensure. The position coordinates resource utilization, timely and appropriate care interventions, and interdisciplinary communication to enhance resident and family satisfaction, adherence to center’s clinical systems and regulatory compliance for the center. You will be responsible for collecting, trending, analyzing and reporting data and manages the nursing department in the absence of the DON. As well as, coordinating the implementation and updating of our established infection prevention and control policies and practices.

- Coordinates nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and assists in integrating services across the continuum of healthcare.
- Ensures residents’ rights, safety, and choices are safeguarded.
- Ensure resident have needed supplies and equipment to properly manage care.
- Participates in clinical risk identification, strategy planning, and risk reduction.
- Makes daily rounds and spot checks documentation accuracy and completeness on new admissions, residents with change in condition, residents triggering occurrence investigations, and residents to be discharged.
- Visits each newly admitted resident as soon as possible upon arrival, validating accuracy of essentials audit and implementation of risk reducing measures.
- The Infection Preventionist (or designee) shall coordinate the development and monitoring of our facility’s established infection prevention and control policies and practices.
- The Infection Preventionist shall report information related to compliance with our facility’s established infection prevention and control policies and practices to the Administrator and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee.
- The Infection Preventionist shall keep abreast of changes in infection prevention and control guidelines and regulations to ensure our facility’s protocols remain current and aid in preventing and controlling the spread of infections
- The Infection Preventionist will collect, analyze and provide infection and antibiotic usage data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners; consult on infection risk assessment and prevention control strategies; provide education and training; and implement evidenced-based infection prevention and control practices.
- Oversees and evaluates systems for discharge planning and communication to be released with resident.
- Facilitates and participates in occurrence investigation ensuring timely and accurate reporting to nursing administration.
