We have an immediate opening for an Optical Sales Associate who is highly motivated, energetic and detail oriented. We are looking for a dependable, positive, upbeat person who enjoys working with people. Computer, communication and interpersonal skills are a must!
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:
The Optical Sales Associate assists and educates patients with their selection of eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens enhancements. They are responsible for assisting the Optician, overseeing all duties in the optical area including placing orders, maintaining inventory, basic upkeep of the optical dispensary, dispensing, repairs and adjustments. Answer phone calls, greet patients, and schedule appointments. Educate patients on their insurance coverage and vision benefits. Obtain insurance authorizations and verification of benefits. Accurately post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products sold. File insurance with major vision plans. Other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proven customer service skills required in order to create, maintain, and enhance patient relationships.
- 2+ Years of experience in the field of optics.
- Extremely efficient, organized, and friendly.
- Well-Versed in the major Vision Insurance Plans.
- Ability to sell and service eyeglasses and contact lenses with a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Excellent ability to problem-solve issues with eyewear or measurements of the different lens types. Problems are resolved by making every effort to provide patient satisfaction while maintaining composure and offering appropriate assistance.
- High level of initiative and works well in a team environment.
- Excellent ability to listen and communicate.
- Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction.
- Strong decision-making skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
This position requires a high school degree and some college preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
