Job Overview
We are seeking a responsible and dedicated School Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school and related activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine interest in working with children. This role requires adherence to safety protocols, effective behavior management, and a commitment to providing a positive transportation experience for students. The School Bus Driver plays a vital role in ensuring student safety while fostering a welcoming environment during daily routes. Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses and other commercial vehicles following all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport students to designated locations, including schools, extracurricular activities, and special events
- Ensure the safety of all passengers by enforcing behavior management policies and maintaining order on the bus
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear English or multilingual skills as may be needed
- Assist students with boarding and disembarking, including those with special needs or requiring childcare support
- Maintain accurate records of routes, student attendance, and any incidents that occur during transportation
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations related to school transportation and commercial driving
Experience
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving is preferred; prior experience with school bus driving or paratransit services is highly valued
- Strong communication skills suitable for interacting with children, parents, and school personnel
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance is advantageous for routine inspections and minor troubleshooting
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings demonstrates an understanding of student needs and behavior management techniques
- Multilingual abilities or experience in senior care or teaching can be beneficial for diverse student populations
- Valid <PERSON> driver’s license with a clean driving record is required; additional certifications such as CDL with passenger endorsement are preferred
- Familiarity with writing reports or documentation related to transportation activities enhances operational efficiency
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.22 - $29.47 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 per week
