POSITION SUMMARY
The Warehouse Supervisor will play a critical role in overseeing and coordinating the daily warehousing activities. Responsibilities will include implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards. The goal is to achieve the appropriate level of volume within time limits while ensuring that daily operations meet and exceed performance expectations.
SUPERVISION
Under the general direction of the Warehouse Manager, this position will supervise and oversee the day-to-day activities for the warehouse.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The warehouse manager will oversee the entire warehouse operation. Develop and implement policies to ensure efficient and safe operations. Train employees on new policies and new products.
The warehouse supervisor will oversee a small team within specific sections of the warehouse. Monitor performance, coach employees, and report issues to the warehouse manager. Communicate orders information regarding product shipments and logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Satisfaction: Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring excellence in receiving, identifying, dispatching, and assuring the quality of goods.
Receiving and Dispatching: Oversee receiving and dispatching procedures for shipments. Ensure timely and accurate handling of goods.
Workload Assignment: Assign daily tasks and workloads to Warehouse Associates. Prioritize tasks based on urgency and efficiency. This includes manufacturing assignments, scheduling and load management.
Customer Communication: Interact with Inside Sales to address shipping and receiving inquiries and troubleshoot any issues.
Logistics Management: Accountable for scheduling incoming / outgoing freight including trucks and LTL. Ensure on-time and error free shipments meeting internal expectations of quality.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, track stock movement, and maintain accurate records.
Accuracy: Ensure shipments’ and inventory transactions’ accuracy.
Employee Coaching: Communicate job expectations and coach employees.
Workload Management: Determine staffing levels and assign workloads.
Cleanliness and Maintenance: Ensure that inventory storage areas are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
Safety Compliance: Monitor Warehouse Associates to ensure adherence to safety protocols when operating forklifts and other machinery.
Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement innovative work procedures and practices.
Collaboration: Coordinate activities with other departments to optimize overall warehouse operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Proven work experience as a Warehouse Supervisor.
Supervisory Skills: Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques.
Software Proficiency: Knowledge of warehouse software packages and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Data Handling: Ability to input, retrieve, and analyze data.
Hands-On Approach: Commitment to getting the job done.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical Stamina: May involve standing for long hours and may require lifting heavy items.
Mobility: Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching throughout your shift.
Lifting Capacity: The ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds.
Safety Gear: Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety vests, eye protector, safety gloves, and steel-toed boots for safety reasons.
