J&J Granite & Marble Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Stone Drafter / CAD Technician to prepare accurate shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and digital layouts for custom natural stone, quartz, porcelain etc. projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with templaters, fabricators, installers, architects, designers, and general contractors to ensure each project is manufactured accurately and efficiently.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed shop drawings for countertops, vanities, fireplaces, wall panels, floors, stairs, portals, reception desks, and other custom stone applications.
- Create fabrication drawings using CAD software from field templates, architectural drawings, and design intent.
- Produce digital slab layouts (photomapping) to maximize material yield while maintaining vein matching and design continuity.
- Review field measurements and verify dimensions before releasing drawings for fabrication.
- Coordinate with project managers and field templaters to resolve drawing discrepancies and missing information.
- Generate cut lists, piece labels, edge profiles, and fabrication details for the production department.
- Revise shop drawings based on architect, designer, and client comments until final approval is received.
- Verify sink locations, appliance cutouts, seam locations, supports, reveals, and edge details.
- Coordinate material orientation, bookmatching, miter details, and special fabrication requirements.
- Maintain drawing revisions and project documentation.
- Communicate with vendors regarding slab sizes, material availability, and fabrication limitations when necessary.
- Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications and company quality standards.
- Assist production by answering drawing-related questions during fabrication and installation.
- Good organization and record keeping
