Full Time Activities Assistant
Shift:
Overview: Join our vibrant team as an Activities Assistant, where your enthusiasm and creativity will bring joy, engagement, and meaningful experiences to our residents. In this dynamic role, you will design and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of seniors, including those with memory impairments such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Duties:
- Plan, organize, and lead engaging activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities of residents, including arts and crafts, music sessions, games, outings, and themed events
- Collaborate with care teams to integrate therapeutic activities that support residents’ cognitive and physical health, especially those with memory care needs
- Assist residents with daily activities (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs) such as mobility, dressing, or participating in group events to promote independence
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced calendar of events that encourages participation and social interaction
- Provide companionship and emotional support during activities to foster a warm, welcoming environment for all residents
- Maintain accurate records of participation, resident preferences, and activity feedback to tailor future programs effectively
- Support families and staff by communicating residents’ engagement levels and progress in recreational programs
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred; familiarity with long-term care or home & community care settings is a plus
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and recreational therapy techniques
- Strong communication skills to connect effectively with residents of varying cognitive abilities and backgrounds
- Experience assisting with ADLs and working with individuals with disabilities or aging issues counseling is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to plan events through experience in event planning or recreational programming
- Compassionate caregiving attitude with a passion for enhancing seniors’ quality of life through engaging activities
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while maintaining flexibility for resident needs

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
