Summary:
The primary function of this role is to recruit, train, manage and retain responsible, results driven, role models who are committed to operational excellence and forming healthy and meaningful relationships with campers in collaboration with the Senior Director of Camp Sabra and the leadership team. In addition, this position will oversee staff during retreats and rentals of the Camp Sabra facilities to outside groups.
Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Sr. Director, conduct the hiring, assignment, training, and supervision of seasonal staff including staff evaluations.

Responsible for international (including Israel) staff recruitment and processing of associated paperwork.
- Create and maintain a manual for each position to include job descriptions, camp policies, standard operating procedures, and expectations for all staff positions.

Be engaged with staff and have off-season parties in different cities in conjunction with recruiting visits.

Ensuring that all employee paperwork is provided in advance of camp and payroll submitted accurately and timely.

Under the supervision of the Sr. Director, create and manage the staffing budget.

Supervise the creation, supervision, and delivery of both pre-camp and in-service staff training.
- Assist the Sr. Director in establishing and executing opening day and closing day procedures for both staff and campers.

Assist the Sr. Director in supervising all camp cleanup at the end of the season.

Supervise the planning and implementing of staff activities to enhance staff engagement and success.
- Supervise Unit Head Supervisor.

Develop and implement an annual communication plan during the off-season to maximize staff engagement and retention. Should include: social media posts, a newsletter, in-person visits, staff focus groups, etc.
- When required, travel for recruitment and retention of staff.

Manage staff ambassador program.

Coordinate staff travel with the Operations Manager.

Create and distribute a staff newsletter on a monthly basis.

Create ongoing in-summer staff trainings as needed.

Supervise staff meetings in conjunction with the Sr. Director.

Develop, maintain, and communicate staff schedules, ensuring all scheduled days off are posted at least one week in advance.

Manage staff assignments in collaboration with camp leadership.

Ensure emergency procedures are in place; staff are thoroughly trained and monitor for reporting and procedural compliance.

Work closely with Sr. Director to assign or re-assign staff to cabins.

Recruit and supervise appropriate staff during camp rentals and retreats.

In the off-season, plan and execute in person staff focus groups and report results to departmental leadership in a timely manner.

Lead responsibly and serve as a positive role model for all staff and campers by promoting Jewish values and development, demonstrating high ethical standards, fostering a culture of respect and integrity, and encouraging healthy choices and overall well-being.

Qualifications:

BA/BS in a related field is required.

A minimum of 3-5 years working in the camping industry is preferred.

Residing in St. Louis, Kansas City, Dallas, or Houston is preferred.

Ability to be solution oriented and forward-thinking.

Ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on deadline.

Must be able to travel throughout the year and reside at camp during the summer season.

Ability to follow through on assigned tasks with limited supervision.

Ability to work with all levels of an organization, with ability to meet potential campers and their families and make presentations to them.
- Demonstrated ability to interview, hire and supervise staff, manage priorities, effectively deal with emergencies, and communicate via written and verbal methods.

Must have demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Must have a demonstrated ability to learn new software programs, as industry specific programs are utilized in this position (Salesforce, CampMinder).

First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required. Training is provided.
Physical Demands:Must be able to sit, stand, walk long distances over gravel and rough terrain, lift and carry up to 40 pounds, use hands to handle controls; be able to talk and hear. This employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to participate in games with staff and campers requiring running, stooping or and bending. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. During camp season the majority of the work is outdoors in summer heat and humidity; the majority of the work is inside during off season.
