Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office management systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and HIPAA regulations. Prior dental office experience and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Meditech are highly preferred. The Dental Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient service.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including insurance verification for various providers
- Collect payments, process billing, and handle medical collections as needed
- Maintain accurate patient records in EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and care plans
- Assist patients with intake procedures and answer inquiries via multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette
- Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing multi-line phones
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Support administrative tasks such as filing medical records, reviewing documentation, and managing office supplies
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic workflow and patient care coordination
Skills
- Proven experience in a dental or medical office environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical billing/coding practices
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid procedures
- Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards for accurate documentation review
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and health information management software
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
