Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in various care settings, including home health, assisted living, and group homes. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams and families.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment through regular cleaning and organization
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans
- Assist clients with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and well-being
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and memory care needs
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification preferred
- Experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings
- Strong patient observation skills for monitoring physical and emotional well-being
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for patient mobility assistance
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is a plus
- Proficient in cooking and meal preparation tailored to dietary needs
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members
- Understanding of caregiving principles related to senior care and direct support
