Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing immediate medical care and stabilization at the scene.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently through city streets and challenging terrains.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and trauma evaluations.
- Manage airway control, ventilation support, and cardiovascular emergencies with confidence.
- Administer medications and injections following established protocols to stabilize patients.
- Coordinate with hospital staff during patient transport to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Utilize advanced medical equipment such as DME (Durable Medical Equipment), monitors, and IV systems accurately.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient conditions, treatments administered, and incident reports.
- Demonstrate proficiency in incident command during multi-agency emergencies or large-scale incidents.
- Engage in ongoing training on trauma medicine, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and emergency response techniques to stay current with industry standards.
Skills
- Critical care experience combined with hospital or emergency room exposure enhances response effectiveness.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and trauma medicine principles.
- Proven ability in triage assessment and prioritization during high-pressure situations.
- Experience with Level I and Level II trauma centers or similar high-acuity environments is highly desirable.
- Skilled in airway management techniques including intubation and ventilation support.
- Competent in cardiovascular emergency response, including CPR and AED operation.
- Familiarity with pediatric emergency care and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques for infection control during patient care procedures.
- Capable of heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks required for patient transport and equipment handling.
- Excellent communication skills for clear documentation and effective incident command during emergencies.
- Valid National Registry Paramedic certification and WVOEMS License.
