Machine Build Technical Assembler
We are currently seeking candidates with experience assembling machinery or complex subassemblies for a Technical Assembler position with a well-established manufacturing company in the Uniontown/Akron area.
In this position, you will be responsible for fitting and assembling components to construct, rebuild, and repair custom engineered production machines for the tire/rubber industries.
Shift:
- 6:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Thursday
- 6:00am - 2:30pm, Friday
Pay:
- $22.00 – $26.00 per hour, based on training, skills, and experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, and other instructions written or verbal, to complete sub-assembly and/or final assembly of customized (typically larger, more complex) products or components according to established guidelines and quality standards
- Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints
- Use a variety of hand and power tools and equipment to assemble units according to required specifications
- Lay out hole locations and drills and taps holes on parts for assembly
- Align components for assembly and bolts, screws, dowels, welds, or rivets parts together, or arrange for assembly by others
- Identify faulty components during the assembly process, make adjustments and report them to management
- Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts
- Assemble, set up, and operate machine to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer's specifications. Mechanically support electricians and programmers as needed
- Inspect items as instructed and provide feedback to management to ensure any quality defects can be avoided in the future
- Occasional travel domestically or internationally to customer plants to supervise and assist in installation, commissioning and/or repair of products. Anticipated level of travel up to 10% each year
- Maintain a clean work area, returning equipment and tools at the end of the day
- Assist other departments and functions as needed
Minimum Requirements:
- Technical degree or certification preferred but not required.
- Three or more years of experience related to assembling capital equipment machinery or complex subassemblies.
- Experience using a variety of hand, power, and shop tools
- Experience working with weldments
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and detailed written and/or verbal instructions to assemble complex machinery
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work from heights (ladder or lift)
- Ability to travel up to 10%
