Position Overview
The Outside Operations Manager – DFW-West is a hands-on operational leader responsible for the safe, skilled, and profitable execution of all services provided at the DFW-West location. This position requires full proficiency in overseeing field operations, equipment utilization and maintenance, workforce management, and service delivery across all service lines. The Outside Operations Manager maintains complete ownership of commercial key account fulfillment and ensures strict adherence to all documentation, safety, quality, and service standards. As the primary operational leader for the DFW-West location, this role is responsible for ensuring every project, service call, and customer engagement is executed to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction while driving operational excellence and profitability.
Primary Responsibilities
Fleet Maintenance & Equipment Proficiency (40%)
- Extreme Mechanic Mindset. Equipment Acumen and efficiency in fleet troubleshooting and repair. This role keeps the fleet on the road daily.
- Key Lines of Business - Commercial Vacuum Trucks, Roll off Dumpsters, Industrial and Environmental Services, Portable Sanitation, Temporary Fencing
- Ownership and Oversight of daily pre-trip and post-trip (BOD/EOD) inspections of all trucks in compliance with DOT and company fleet safety standards
- Maintain a working understanding of all vacuum truck mechanical systems including pump operation, hose management, valve controls, pressure/vacuum gauges, and hydraulic functions
- Coordinate and execute all routine and preventative maintenance tasks on schedule; track, document, and report all service intervals, repairs, and equipment issues to the Director of Branch Services
- Ensure the truck is stocked with all required PPE, safety equipment, spill containment supplies, and operational tools prior to each dispatch
- Manage proper waste loading, weight compliance, and safe transport of all vacuum-extracted materials in accordance with DOT weight limits and environmental regulations
- Respond to equipment failures in the field with resourceful problem-solving and execute promptly when outside scope
Daily Management & Staff Leadership (40%)
- Lead and manage all daily operational activities performed by the DFW-West team pertaining to any and all Services, staff, drivers, and support staff relating to operations in the field.
- Plan, track, and allocate resources to maximize team productivity and ensure jobs are prioritized, completed on time, and in budget
- Monitor service schedules and assign tasks to align with customer deadlines and internal efficiency goals
- Evaluate individual employee performance and provide coaching and corrective action as necessary
- Act as the primary branch-level decision-maker to keep all lines of business moving in the field.
- Collaborate with Construction Site and Industrial Site Services GM on a daily basis.
Yard Operations & Facility Integrity (20%)
- Maintain full yard integrity including organization, cleanliness, and proper storage of hoses, tools, fittings, PPE, and all Truck ancillary supplies.
- Ensure that all equipment and all associated equipment are properly staged, stocked, fueled, and ready for next-day dispatch at the close of each workday.
- Conduct regular inventory counts of yard consumables and VacTruck supplies; communicate reorder needs proactively to the Director of Branch Services.
- Assist with loading and staging of equipment for other service lines as needed and directed.
- Keep all yard safety signage, spill kits, and containment equipment current and accessible.
- Participate in weekly yard safety walks and contribute to branch-level safety and operational improvement initiatives.
- Documentation, Compliance & Paperwork
- Aid in the completion of all field paperwork accurately and on time, including crew sheets, waste manifests, service tickets, BOD/EOD vehicle inspection reports, and customer sign-off documentation
- Ensure 100% accuracy and timely submission of all key account billing documentation, including job tickets, manifests, mileage logs, and disposal records
- Maintain up-to-date waste disposal manifests and chain-of-custody paperwork in full compliance with TCEQ, EPA, and client-specific environmental requirements
- Track and log all preventative maintenance activities, roadside inspections, and vehicle safety checks in company fleet management systems
- Submit all required documentation to the Executive Administrative Office Manager by end of day; flag any incomplete paperwork, customer disputes, or field compliance concerns immediately
- Ensure all required operator certifications, licenses, and training records are current and available for inspection at all times

Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of hands on equipment and commercial truck operation required; 130-barrel unit experience strongly preferred
- 10+ years in strong people management
- Preferred Class A or Class B CDL with tanker endorsement required
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and environmental compliance requirements for liquid waste and industrial vacuum services
- Demonstrated ability to complete accurate field documentation including manifests, crew sheets, and service tickets
- Familiarity with TCEQ waste disposal requirements and chain-of-custody protocols
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine maintenance and identify equipment issues
- Proficiency in scheduling and route management tools; basic Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and confined-space adjacent environments; must be able to lift 50+ lbs
