Samaritas is seeking a Foster Care Documentation Specialist to play a critical role behind the scenes, ensuring that case records are accurate, complete, and compliant. This 3-day per week role will be on-site at our Detroit Offices on East Jefferson
In this position, your work directly supports case managers, supervisors, and ultimately the children and families we serve by upholding the highest standards of documentation and accountability.

As a Foster Care Documentation Specialist, you will review and maintain case files to ensure compliance with organizational policies and state and federal regulations. This role is essential in supporting program quality, regulatory adherence, and effective service delivery.
- Review foster care case files to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance
- Verify that all documentation aligns with agency policies and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with supervisors to identify files for review
- Track and manage required paperwork, including legal documents and reports
- Identify missing or inaccurate information and collaborate with staff to resolve issues
- Maintain organized systems for filing, recordkeeping, and document tracking
- Send and retrieve files from offsite storage as needed
- Complete case review summaries and provide findings to supervisors
- Recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in documentation systems
- Provide ongoing support and communication to staff regarding documentation needs
Education
- Associate’s degree in a human services field preferred
Experience
- Two or more years of experience in a related role preferred
- Knowledge of foster care, adoption, and licensing requirements preferred
