The Visitor Services Associate is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to all Montpelier visitors as they explore the historic property. The Visitor Services Associate’s primary focus will be retail operations within the Montpelier Museum Shop, including the sale of merchandise, while also assisting with tour ticketing, membership sales at the point of sale, and general visitor assistance. Visitor Center staff should be able to provide current information about Montpelier’s daily tour and special event schedule, Museum Shop merchandise, Montpelier memberships, and helpful advice about touring the grounds.
DUTIES
Sale of Museum Shop merchandise
Sale of daily tour tickets
Offer and process Montpelier memberships at the Visitor Center desk
Provide friendly and helpful service to all Montpelier visitors, both in person and on the phone
Stock, maintain, and clean the retail sales floor
Assist with merchandising, restocking, and merchandise price changes as needed
Maintain basic knowledge of Museum Shop merchandise and Montpelier tours and programs
Engage visitors browsing the Museum Shop by offering assistance when appropriate
Assist with inventory organization and periodic inventory counts
Provide comprehensive visitor assistance to ensure all Montpelier visitors have a positive experience
Must possess public relations skills and display a pleasant personality.
Must be able to respond in a positive manner to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
Must possess a willingness to work as part of a team and the ability to take initiative when warranted.
Must be able to work most weekends.
Preference given to individuals with prior retail and cash register experience and those possessing a high school diploma or equivalency.
