Job Summary
We are seeking a Production Planner / Material Planner to support production scheduling, material planning, inventory control, and the timely flow of materials through the manufacturing process. This position will work closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving, and other cross-functional teams to ensure materials and components are available to meet production and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, prepare, issue, and maintain basic production schedules and material requirements to support the master production schedule.
- Identify raw material and component requirements based on engineering and production specifications.
- Maintain accurate item master schedules and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Monitor work-in-progress, material availability, production status, and potential scheduling issues.
- Confirm material availability to meet production demand and customer requirements.
- Prepare work orders and purchase requests for components and parts as needed.
- Coordinate the movement of materials between production, storage areas, outside processors, and suppliers.
- Schedule and expedite the movement of parts using move orders and stock transfers to meet customer shipping requirements.
- Project hardware availability and support assembly build schedules and monthly production objectives.
- Analyze inventory usage, scrap, and waste to identify potential issues affecting inventory levels and production requirements.
- Monitor component shortages and assist with resolving material shortages, overages, engineering changes, and order cancellations.
- Maintain configuration control on open orders and applicable production and planning data.
- Coordinate with Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving, and other departments to maintain an efficient flow of materials.
- Identify opportunities to improve production and material processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate production planning and inventory-related records.
- Follow applicable company, manufacturing, quality, and aerospace industry procedures and requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement and cross-functional projects as needed.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field preferred.
- Candidates currently pursuing an applicable bachelor's degree may also be considered.
- Production planning, material planning, inventory control, manufacturing, or supply chain experience is preferred.
- CPIM certification or coursework in Production and Inventory Management is a plus.
- Aerospace or manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred.
