Job Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English & possess basic math skills
- Must be able to interpret and comprehend Menu Specifications
- Must be able to walk/stoop/bend/stand for entire work shift
- Able to prepare stocks, sauces and other food items using standard recipes
- Able to use various kitchen equipment (i.e. ovens, steamers, grills, deep fryers
- Knowledge of various knives and cutlery as well as their specific uses; good knife skills and practices
- Previous working experience in large commercial kitchen: hotel, commissary, high level restaurant (a plus)
- Practices good personal and food hygiene; understanding of HACCP & USDA Ability to prepare complex recipes.
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills
- Can work in an environment with varying temperatures
- Can do moderate to heavy lifting
Principal Responsibilities:
- Assumes responsibility for efficiently and effectively preparing hot food items for domestic flights.
- Cook food from raw to finished state
- Prepares hot food promptly and in compliance with kitchen ready times and flight schedules.
- Cooks a variety of main course (Sauces, Proteins, Starches and Vegetables) items involving long preparation times.
- Assumes responsibility for quality of meals prepared and complies with meal specifications required by airlines.
- Follows airline specification when preparing all food items.
- Works in accordance with FDA and HACCP food handling standards.
- Assist with menu presentation.
- Assumes other related duties as required.
- Must have excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
- Must have ability to work under pressure while maintaining composure.
- Must be a team player, with ability to work flexible schedule
