American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a float pool PCU position requiring both KS and MO (or compact) RN licenses, with night shifts and extensive telemetry and progressive care skills.

This is a float pool position — no home unit is assigned; clinician will float between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed

Work settings include Med/Surg Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units
-
Patient population includes heart failure, MI, stroke, COPD, pulmonary embolism, bacteremia, cellulitis, hematuria, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal
-
Patient ratio is 1:6
-
Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
-
8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, on a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
-
Holiday shift coverage and Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
-
No on-call requirements

Block scheduling is not available

Charting is performed in Epic
-
Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri, or a compact RN license, must be in hand at time of consideration — willingness to hold both state licenses is required due to floating between facilities

Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/progressive care specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
-
Required cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry unit monitoring, and use of Rapid Response Teams
-
Required cardiovascular skills: post-MI care, pre/post cardiac catheterization management
-
Required respiratory skills: chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
-
Required IV/medication skills: central line and PICC line management, port access, blood product administration, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (non-titration), PCA, and IV insulin protocols

Additional required skills: feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, surgical drain management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions

2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a Charge RN — all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
