Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Spanish Teacher to join our educational team serving students who are blind or visually impaired, with and without additional disabilities. This position provides standards-based instruction to students in a K–12 setting while supporting their academic, social, and independent living development.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging Spanish instruction, adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Candidates who hold a valid teaching license and Spanish endorsement are encouraged to apply. The school will provide time and support for qualified candidates to obtain the Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement within five years.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-based Spanish instruction aligned with Tennessee State Standards.
- Adapt lesson plans and instructional materials to meet the individual learning needs of students with visual impairments and additional disabilities.
- Develop and implement instructional strategies based on each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success.
- Monitor student progress through ongoing assessments, data collection, and progress reporting.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, specialists, administrators, and parents to support student achievement.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress evaluations.
- Utilize assistive technology and accessible instructional resources to enhance student learning.
- Support students in developing academic, communication, and independent living skills.
- Maintain accurate educational records and required documentation.
- Participate in professional development, workshops, and required training.
- Supervise and participate in school activities, field trips, and extracurricular programs as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Tennessee teaching license or eligibility for licensure.
- Subject area endorsement in Spanish.
- Willingness to obtain Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification within five years.
