The ideal candidate will use experience to support individuals transitioning out of homelessness into stable housing. This role works closely with the housing coordinators and the program manager to assist clients in accessing essential services and building independence.

Peer Support Specialist:
· Support clients in setting up household utilities such as electricity, water, and gas before moving in
· Assist with scheduling and attending medical, housing, and service-related appointments
· Provide or coordinate transportation for clients to ensure access to critical services and resources
· Guide clients through applications for public benefits, including SNAP, Medicaid, and SSI/SSDI
· Support clients with employment search, job applications, and interview preparation
· Assist housing coordinators in submitting furniture bank requests and coordinating furniture delivery or pickup
· Help the housing coordinators and program manager obtain and organize essential move-in kits, including hygiene items and household supplies
· Collaborating with housing coordinators to develop and implement individualized service plans
· Conduct community outreach to connect clients with local resources, programs, and support networks
· Serve as a peer mentor by modeling positive behaviors and encouraging personal growth
· Responsible for entering all client data into the federal Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and providing regular updates to the housing coordinator and program manager
Housing Stability & Tenant Support:
· Educate clients on tenant rights and responsibilities, including lease agreements, rent payments, and property upkeep.
· Conduct housing orientation sessions to help clients understand expectations for maintaining their home.
· Assist clients in creating a household budget to manage rent, utilities, and expenses effectively.
· Connect clients with rental assistance programs and legal aid as needed.
· Work with clients on life skills training, including cleaning, grocery shopping, and communication with landlords.
· Organize workshops and events tailored to clients’ needs to support their self‑sufficiency.
Qualifications: Lived experience. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, Knowledge of local community resources and housing support systems, Strong interpersonal skills and computer proficiency required. Experience with homeless populations and issues related to affordable housing is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications: Peer Support Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Requirements: Position requires acceptable background and E-Verify checks, a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation for the completion of field assignments, working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and the internet. Ability to communicate clearly in writing, orally, and via email, availability to work during normal business hours as well as occasional early, late, and weekend hours, organizational skills, capability of prioritizing and multitasking, collaborative work with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, maintenance and assembly of client files, and ongoing training.
