Duties
- Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates; accurately document findings in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Assist with specialized care needs including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, behavioral health support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care and phlebotomy; uphold infection control standards in all patient interactions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings including hospitals (Level I Trauma Center experience preferred), long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, outpatient clinics, and home & community care environments.
- Use medical terminology accurately to document patient records and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals across medical-surgical units, ICU, PICU, emergency medicine departments, and hospice care settings.
Experience
- Prior experience working in acute care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine is highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for medical documentation.
- Experience with specialized areas including critical care, trauma centers (Level I & II), infectious disease care, geriatric populations (geriatrics), pediatrics (including PICU), hospice services, or post-acute care is preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to assist with patient assessments and vital signs monitoring accurately.
- Familiarity with medical procedures such as catheterization, basic life support (BLS), aseptic technique, and medication administration.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including children, seniors, individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to ensure compassionate patient service while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
