We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing behavior, and reporting any changes or concerns promptly
- Administer medication following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking to meet individual dietary needs and preferences
- Support residents during outings or community activities to promote social engagement and independence
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring a hygienic environment
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely during transfers and mobility assistance
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy standards like HIPAA and facility policies
- Collaborate with team members, healthcare providers, and family members to develop and update personalized care plans
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and encouragement to foster a positive atmosphere for residents
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are required; additional certifications CMT, DDA Training ( can recieve during orientation)
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or memory care needs is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks using proper techniques or equipment
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
- Patience, compassion, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to caregiving are essential for success in this role
