In this vital role, you will oversee patient care, coordinate with clinical teams, and ensure optimal coverage to meet the diverse needs of our patients. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with department managers to meet staffing needs based on patient census, acuity levels, and special procedures such as cardiac catheterization or trauma medicine.
- Monitor staffing levels continuously, making real-time adjustments to accommodate emergency cases or unexpected absences.
- Coordinate with human resources to facilitate onboarding, credentialing, and ongoing training for staff members working in specialized areas like ICU, PICU, or emergency medicine.
- Maintain accurate records of shift assignment, overtime, unit worked, supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with clinical teams regarding scheduling changes, critical care requirements like ventilator management or aseptic technique protocols, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support quality assurance initiatives by ensuring staffing practices align with NCQA standards and other regulatory requirements for patient safety and care quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical field, hospital staffing, or healthcare operations management.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner, Epic, or eClinicalWorks for scheduling and documentation purposes preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to specialties including ophthalmology, geriatrics, behavioral health, or infectious disease care.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams including other nurses, physicians, therapists, and administrative staff.
- Experience working in settings that involve critical care (ICU), emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I & II), or post-acute care environments such as hospice or long-term care facilities.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail in shift planning and documentation.
