American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring Open Heart post-op experience, CRRT, IABP, and Impella management.

Work in a 16-bed ICU within a 310-bed Level III Trauma Center hospital
Unit serves as the designated Neuro Unit for ischemic strokes receiving TPA
Care for critical care patients including CABG and valve post-op, CRRT, 24-hour EEG, hypothermia post cardiac arrest, and prone patients
Also cares for COVID-positive patients
Targeted patient ratios are 1:2 for Critical Care and 1:3 for Intermediate level patients
Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
13 or 18 week winter contract options available
Must work a minimum of every other holiday and every other weekend
Floating required at facility discretion, including into specialty clusters or high-risk respiratory/COVID units, and potentially to other campus locations within 10-15 miles
Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
Family Centered Care model with unrestricted visiting hours

Active Ohio RN license or compact license required
BLS and ACLS through AHA required
NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
Associate's Degree in Nursing or BSN required
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
Epic charting experience required
Must pass an online EKG/dysrhythmia tele competency assessment within 72 hours of signing contract
Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
Experience with vents, NIH, IV starts, ICP monitoring, and conscious sedation required
Required skills include CABG and valve post-op care, Impella, IABP, and CRRT management
Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of signing

Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiac, neurological, and multisystem organ dysfunction patients
Manage post cardiac surgery patients both directly from the OR and post-transfer
Perform arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, as well as continuous IV sedation
Support stroke management including CVA/acute stroke care and TAVR procedures
Maintain infection prevention practices including isolation precautions and PPE
Maximum RTO of 14 days allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission and cannot be added after an offer

Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
Any previous PERM/PRN staff or prior agency traveler not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying and requires facility rehire approval
Candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be accepted
