District Librarian: Start Date August 2026
San Luis Coastal Unified School District represents the communities of Avila, Edna Valley, Los Osos, Morro Bay, and San Luis Obispo and currently has an enrollment of approximately 7,500 students. Small neighborhood schools are a hallmark of the District where students are educated from preschool through twelfth grade and a world-class adult school program offers unique, life-improving courses to thousands of community members.
San Luis Coastal Unified School District is seeking a collaborative, student-centered District Librarian to lead and support library services across all school sites.
This position promotes literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, and equitable access to high-quality print and digital resources while working closely with library staff, teachers, administrators, students, and families.
The ideal candidate is organized, innovative, service-oriented, and committed to creating welcoming library environments for all students.
Must possess, or be eligible for, a Teacher Librarian Services Credential. English Learner authorization also required. Candidates without EL authorization will be required to complete the authorization within one year. A teacher with a valid teaching credential is eligible for a temporary Teacher Librarian Services credential.
