Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers to transport vehicles over long distances and OTR (over-the-road) routes
- Load and unload vehicles using manual handling techniques and proper cargo handling procedures
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure timely deliveries while following FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Secure loads properly to prevent movement or damage during transit, especially when transporting hazardous or dangerous goods
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for compliance with hazardous materials regulations when applicable
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or issues encountered during transit
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially in automobile transportation and route driving
- Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling and cargo security
- Familiarity with various trailer types such as flatbed, tanker, refrigerated trailer, or hazardous materials containers
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual loading tasks safely
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and hazardous materials regulations for safe transportation of dangerous goods
- Proficiency with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and execution
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with delivery driving preferred
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks related to manual handling and cargo management in compliance with safety standards
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
