Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our educational team at Twin Falls High School. The ideal candidate will inspire freshman students to grow in their ability to read and comprehend texts on Achieve 3000 and successfully progress in their 9th-grade academic and elective courses, as well as become familiarized with different career and occupation pathways available to them, exploring the various aspects of choosing what interests them and combining that with the suggested skill sets for each pathway. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement, critical thinking, and practical skill development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum in Freshman Foundations that aligns with state standards and educational goals.
- Create lesson plans that incorporate hands-on activities, technology, and real-world applications to enhance student learning.
- Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including tests, projects, and presentations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Guide students in developing practical life skills, such as reading comprehension skills, career and post-secondary pathways, and effective communication.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members to promote the importance of building the necessary skills that these students will need in their secondary and post-secondary education.
- Stay current with local, state, and regional opportunities and integrate relevant topics into the curriculum.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and subject knowledge.
- Maintain an organized classroom and manage resources effectively.
- Supervise student activities and projects, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English (6-12), Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for English in the state of Idaho.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Experience in teaching or working with high school students is preferred.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that meets diverse student needs.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
