American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a busy trauma and stroke center requiring at least 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and a CA RN license, with previous travel experience required.

Work in a 55-bed Emergency Room within a Magnet-designated hospital
-
Fast-paced ER handling 200 cases/day in summer and 350 cases/day in winter
-
Patient population is 88% adult and 8% pediatric, with an average age of 76 and 81% Medicare patients
-
Facility is a Primary Stroke Center with STEMI, sepsis, and forensics program capabilities
-
Includes an 8-bed Fast Track area and is the highest-volume ambulance receiving facility in the area
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1
-
LVN support provided for RN breaks and IV starts
-
High-volume TPA administration and therapeutic hypothermia protocols in place
-
Uses Epic charting system
-
Schedule is Day shift, 3x12-hour mid shifts (11:00-23:00)

Weekend requirement of six shifts per six-week block (Saturday/Sunday)

Floating within the hospital required based on skill set

May be placed on call once per pay period with a 60-minute callback requirement

Active CA RN license required at time of consideration

Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required

Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS

Proficiency in Epic charting required

Skilled in triage, telemetry, IV starts, and EKG interpretation
-
Must pass an EKG exam during orientation
-
Strong customer service skills required due to Magnet facility status
-
Prior travel nursing experience required
-
Flu vaccination required, with exemptions considered case by case
-
Provide emergency nursing care across a high-acuity, high-volume ER setting including stroke, cardiac, and trauma cases
-
Sexual assault forensic exams are not performed by travelers, though care other than the exam itself may be provided
-
Preferred certifications include MAB, CPI, ventilator management, and TNCC
-
Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
-
RTO should not exceed 7 days and must be submitted at time of consideration, with no time off allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment
-
Travelers must work every other holiday, with preference given to coverage on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve
-
Only one contract extension is permitted, after which a break equal to the combined original and extension length is required before returning to this facility

Former employees of this facility must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler
