WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As part of our Hardware Engineering group, the Senior/Principal Engineer, Product Design leads the development of customer-centric product solutions by combining expertise in Industrial & Interaction Design, User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI).
This role applies design thinking, user research, and engineering judgment to create products that are intuitive, visually compelling, accessible, ergonomic, and aligned with customer needs while remaining technically robust and manufacturable.

Key Accountabilities:

Lead the development of customer-centric product solutions through the integration of Industrial Design, Interaction Design, UX/UI, and Mechanical Engineering principles.

Define and drive industrial design vision, product form language, ergonomics, usability, accessibility, and design consistency across CPI's product portfolio.

Shape end-to-end customer experiences across physical and digital touchpoints, including product workflows, visual communication, interface interactions, serviceability, and human-product interaction.

Create and communicate product concepts, design strategies, and experience requirements using sketches, renderings, prototypes, CAD models, user journeys, and design specifications.

Act as a technical authority and reviewer in Industrial, Interaction, and UX/UI Design disciplines, providing guidance during design reviews, planning activities, and retrospectives.

Lead research and evaluation of new materials, technologies, interaction methods, manufacturing processes, and design approaches.

Provide technical leadership for cross-functional product development initiatives, including coordination and mentorship of multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites to achieve product and business objectives.

Mentor engineers and designers, supporting technical growth and promoting best practices in Industrial, Interaction and UX/UI design.

Demonstrate expert proficiency in the Engineering Development Process (EDP) and apply human-centered design principles throughout all phases of product development.

You will bring extensive experience leading the development of customer-centric product solutions with well-demonstrated success in applying human-centered design methodologies to deliver intuitive, innovative, and manufacturable product experiences.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

High proficiency and efficiency in 3D product design and development using SolidWorks or Creo, including advanced surfacing, complex assemblies, configuration management, rendering, and visualization capabilities.

Effective communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and work across multidisciplinary global teams.
