We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe changes in health status, and report findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary plans and assist with meal consumption to ensure proper nutrition.
- Support medication administration following prescribed care plans and ensure proper documentation of all patient care activities.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a respectful and engaging environment that promotes mental well-being.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Assist with transportation needs for appointments or community outings, ensuring client safety during transfers and travel.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and first aid/CPR certification.
- Experience supporting individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, memory care needs, autism spectrum disorder, or other neurodevelopmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and use patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Familiarity with care plans, medication management, patient personal care assistance, and assisting with ADLs.
- Valid certifications in first aid and CPR; additional training in hospice care or geriatrics is a plus.
- A compassionate attitude combined with patience, adaptability, and a commitment to providing high-quality care for individuals of all ages with disabilities or chronic health conditions.
