Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring according to standardized recipes and menu specifications
- Assist in assembling dishes and plating food items with precision and attention to presentation standards
- Support cooking processes by handling basic food preparation tasks such as mixing, portioning, and assembling components
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Stock supplies, rotate ingredients, and notify management of inventory needs to ensure continuous kitchen operation
- Follow all safety procedures related to knife skills, food handling, and equipment usage to prevent accidents
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to support catering events or special meal preparations as needed
- Put away the order/trucks. Assist in kitchen organization through the walk-in, freezer, and dry storage, using FIFO (first in, first out).
- Learn line positions as well to assist as a floater during rushes. (fry, grill, pantry)
- Help keep up on dishes as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings is preferred
- Knowledge of menu planning, meal assembly, and food service operations
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic culinary techniques
- Familiarity with food safety protocols and proper food handling practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards serving others
