Public Works Employee
The City of Schofield is seeking a dependable, motivated individual to join our Public Works team. This is a full-time skilled position that performs a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and operational duties throughout the City.
As part of a small Public Works team, the successful candidate should be a self-starter who works well with others, takes pride in their work, and is willing to pitch in wherever needed. We are looking for someone who can work independently when necessary while also being a positive and dependable member of the team.
Primary Duties
Duties encompass equipment operation along with maintenance and repair of City infrastructure and property including:
- Streets and rights-of-way
- Municipal water and sewer systems
- Stormwater infrastructure
- Parks and public grounds
- City buildings and other municipal property
- Snow and ice removal
- Operation and routine maintenance of trucks, heavy equipment, tools, and other Public Works equipment
- Other duties and projects as assigned
The employee works under the direction of the Director of Public Works.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Applicable work experience and/or technical training or education
- Ability and willingness to operate trucks, heavy equipment, power tools, and other Public Works equipment
- Valid driver's license and good driving record (Required)
- Valid Wisconsin CDL (Required)
- Water operator's license, or willingness and ability to obtain required licensing within one year
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position in a variety of weather conditions
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work overtime, rotating weekends/on-call periods, and occasional holidays as necessary
Compensation & Benefits
Public Works Wage: $34.61/hour with annual increases

Work Schedule
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Rotating weekend/on-call responsibilities
- Some holidays
- Overtime as needed, including during snow and other weather-related events
