Overview
First and foremost, must love dogs! The Dog Penn is looking for an experienced, outgoing bartender to join our pack! We’re not your typical bar, we’re Pittsburgh’s only dog park & bar. We operate as a private dog park; we require proof of vaccinations for dogs and they pay for a day, monthly or annual pass. Humans are always welcome to have a drink and play with pups for free.
Our bartenders are the heart of the human side of our community. You’ll be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, crafting great drinks, engaging with guests (both two- and four-legged), and helping make every visit a great experience. Because we are membership based, we have a ton of regulars and building relationships with them is very important to building our community.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages accurately and efficiently, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, energetic manner to enhance their overall experience.
- Manage POS system Toast for order processing, billing, and cash handling with precision.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area in compliance with food safety standards and sanitation protocols.
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cashiering duties and basic math calculations for change.
- Monitor guest behavior to promote responsible drinking and ensure a safe environment for all patrons.
- Becoming versed in our dog park software Runloyal and checking dogs in when necessary.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a bartender, preferably 5+ years.
- Dependability is key! We have a small staff that makes it hard to accommodate call ins or lots of time off.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple orders efficiently during busy periods.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests warmly and professionally.
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol serving policies.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for sales, retail math, and cash handling accurately.
- Must possess strong communication skills and be able to work effectively within a team environment.
