We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Laser Machinist who specializes in independent machine setup and operation. In this role, you won't just be pushing a button on pre-run parts. You will be responsible for taking blueprints and raw materials, selecting the correct focal lenses and nozzles, adjusting assist gases, and dialing in the machine to execute clean, precise cuts.
If you have a sharp eye for detail, an understanding of material behaviors under thermal cutting, and take pride in troubleshooting your own setups, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
Independent Setup: Perform complete setups on CNC Laser cutting machines including lens changes, nozzle alignment, centering, and calibration.
Operation & Control: Load programs, adjust cutting parameters (power, feed rate, gas pressure), and operate the laser to cut various metals (steel, aluminum, stainless, etc.).
Blueprint Reading: Interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols to determine part specifications and tolerances.
First-Piece Inspection: Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges) to inspect your own first-article parts and ensure they match blueprint dimensions.
Material Management: Select correct assist gases (Nitrogen, Oxygen, Shop Air) and adjust pressure based on material type and thickness to minimize dross and burrs.
Troubleshooting: Identify and correct cut-quality issues (e.g., thermal deformation, bad edges, piercing failures) on the fly.
Maintenance: Perform routine daily maintenance on the laser system, including cleaning optics, replacing nozzles, and checking dust collection systems.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Minimum of 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC Laser cutting machines (e.g., Amada, Trumpf, Bystronic, Mazak, or similar).
Setup Mastery: Proven ability to perform complete machine changeovers and material test runs independently.
Technical Math: Basic shop math skills (decimals, fractions, basic geometry) and ability to convert between metric and imperial units.
Measurement Proficiency: Expert use of precision inspection instruments.
salary: $45,000 - $58,000 per year
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 4 PM
