Part-Time Biological Lab Technician
Environmental Consulting and Testing, Inc. (or ECT) is an aquatic toxicity testing laboratory and hatchery located in Superior, WI. We have a variety of species of freshwater aquatic test organisms that we culture in-house. These organisms are used in our laboratory where we conduct many types of tests.
We are looking for a part-time biological lab technician. We offer flexible hours during the school year and part to full time during the Summer.
Job Summary:
Regularly cultures organism and performs acute and chronic toxicity test.
Essential Duties:
-Regularly culture organisms for toxicity testing
-Perform acute and chronic aquatic toxicity tests on treated domestic wastewater, storm water, industrial effluents, and chemical products for clients
-Measured and recorded daily physical and chemical measurements of pH, D.O., conductivity, hardness, alkalinity, temperature and ammonia
-Carefully use laboratory equipment and instruments
-Detailed documentation of test results on worksheet or laboratory notebook.
-Communicate with other employees and managers
-Conduct procedures following SOPs and other methods
-Ensure the lab remains clean, and organized
Minimum Requirements:
-Need to be able to work a least 2 weekends (Sat & Sun) a month (6-8 hours long per day)
-Need to be able to work 1-3 holidays a year
-Need to be able to work part-time during the week (10-30 hours) Lab hours approx 830a-430p
-Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science student or grad preferred, not required
-Some college scientific lab experience and computer software would be helpful
