Job Summary

Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Plan and navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) routes and logistics cargo handling sites
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations
- Transport automobile parts or vehicles via automobile transportation services, adhering to safety protocols for vehicle securement and transportation
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify truck safety, including checking for mechanical issues, load security, and compliance with DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or route adjustments to optimize logistics efficiency
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving for freight delivery or automobile transportation
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and manual handling techniques for cargo loading/unloading
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures for various types of freight such as hazardous materials, flatbed loads, or tanker shipments
- Experience navigating GPS systems efficiently on long-haul or regional routes
- Demonstrated understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations
- Delivery driver experience with a focus on safe handling of dangerous goods or sensitive cargo preferred
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the specific vehicle type (e.g., hazmat endorsement if applicable)
