We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wound Treatment Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including evaluating wound size, depth, exudate, and signs of infection using advanced physiology knowledge and medical terminology.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans aligned with best practices and patient needs, incorporating infection control protocols and sterile techniques.
- Administer treatments such as dressings, debridement, injections, and other advanced wound therapies while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety standards.
- Monitor patient progress through vital signs, medical documentation, and EMR/EHR systems to ensure timely updates and effective communication with the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care procedures, prevention strategies, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications to promote healing outside the clinical setting.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, physical therapists, and case managers to coordinate post-acute care and outpatient services.
- Maintain accurate medical records, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with current registration; experience in medical-surgical or inpatient settings preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in wound management with familiarity in Level II trauma center experience or hospital medicine environments.
- Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols, infectious disease care, Geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), urgent care, outpatient clinics, and post-acute care settings.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for documentation; strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and vital signs assessment.
- Skills in IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration including injections, and basic life support certification.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including Geriatrics or pediatric patients; previous school or clinic experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform patient assessment accurately while demonstrating excellent communication skills; commitment to patient-centered care while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
