Restorative Services Aide Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with the Restorative Care Nurse to plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct restorative care services, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities.
Meets with administration, medical and nursing staff, therapy department, as well as other related departments in planning restorative care.
Interprets restorative care policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, etc.
Documents all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care.
Provides physical support for patients/resident’s daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring to/from bed, toileting, walking, standing, or exercising.
Turns and repositions bedridden patients.
Examines patients for open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine.
Cleans rooms and bed linens.
Checks and records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Answers to patient calls and needs.
All other duties, as assigned.
Restorative Services Aide Skills and Abilities:
Good collaboration and teamwork skills with the nursing staff.
Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
Restorative Services Aide Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
State Certified Nursing Assistant License/Certification.
Current CPR certificate or become certified within 90 days of employment, preferred. Some facilities may require this.
1 year of restorative experience preferred.
Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative therapy practices.
Long-Term care experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
