AcceleRAD Technologies (ART), Inc., a subsidiary of Reveam, Inc. and a leader in linear particle accelerator technology, is currently seeking a highly motivated LINAC Assembly Technician to support its Hayward, CA operations.
Description:
The LINAC Assembly Technician is responsible for the hands-on assembly, brazing, and vacuum-related build of linear accelerator (LINAC) components and subassemblies. This role combines precision braze assembly work with furnace operation and management, vacuum equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and support of shipping/receiving activities including crating and minor warehouse tasks. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong hand-tool skills, the ability to follow detailed work instructions and engineering drawings precisely, and a genuine willingness to learn new processes and techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities
Braze Assembly
- Perform precision braze assembly of copper, stainless steel, and other alloy components used in LINAC subassemblies, following detailed work instructions, drawings, and braze schedules.
- Prepare parts for brazing, including cleaning, degreasing, fixturing, and application of braze alloy and flux/paste as specified.
- Set up and load furnace fixtures and braze assemblies to ensure proper alignment, joint fit-up, and repeatable results.
- Inspect brazed joints visually and dimensionally against specification, and identify and flag any defects such as voids, fillet irregularities, or misalignment.
- Maintain detailed records of braze runs, including furnace parameters, lot traceability, and inspection results.
Furnace Management
- Operate and manage vacuum/hydrogen braze furnaces, including loading, running, and unloading braze cycles according to established recipes.
- Monitor furnace temperature profiles, vacuum levels, and cycle parameters throughout each run, and respond appropriately to alarms or deviations.
- Perform routine furnace maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting to maintain consistent process performance and minimize downtime.
- Maintain furnace logs and documentation in accordance with quality system requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering or quality on furnace recipe changes, qualification runs, and process improvements.
Vacuum Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine maintenance on vacuum pumps, chambers, valves, and associated hardware used in furnace and assembly operations.
- Troubleshoot vacuum leaks and system performance issues using leak-check methods (e.g., helium leak detection) and basic diagnostic tools.
- Assist with preventive maintenance schedules for vacuum equipment and escalate issues beyond scope to engineering or outside service providers.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for vacuum systems.
Crating & Warehouse Support
- Build and prepare crates and packaging for finished assemblies and components to ensure safe shipment.
- Support minor warehouse activities, including receiving, put-away, kitting, and material handling as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the shop and warehouse.
- Assist with inventory checks and material staging to support the production schedule.
Qualifications
- Minimum education requirement of a high-school diploma or GED.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred but not required; equivalent hands-on experience will be given equal consideration.
- 2-5 years of experience with brazing, furnace operation, or vacuum systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with precision mechanical or electromechanical assembly.
- Familiarity with basic troubleshooting of mechanical or vacuum equipment.
- Must be able to work onsite Monday – Friday.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision, repeatable work.
- Demonstrated proficiency with hand tools and general shop equipment.
- Ability to read and closely follow written work instructions, drawings, and process specifications.
- Strong willingness to learn new processes, tools, and techniques, and to take direction well.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and crating work.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.Preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: This position is primarily based in a manufacturing environment and involves working with furnace, brazing, and vacuum equipment. Occasional support may also be required in the warehouse and shipping/receiving areas.
The majority of work is performed in a manufacturing facility. The employee will frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or maintain balance, and use hands and fingers for grasping and handling materials. The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Employees will frequently perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and climbing. Regular use of a computer, telephone, and writing instruments is required, and employees may spend extended periods standing while conducting presentations or training.
While performing job duties, employees may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical equipment and industrial vehicles. The manufacturing environment has a high noise level, while office areas are typically quiet to moderately noisy.
